09. Haylee Collins on Honouring the Role of the Creative Mother.
I am delighted to introduce Haylee Collins to the show—a writer, marketer, mother, publisher, and the creative director of the new magazine publication, HOWL. From conceptualizing campaigns for best-selling and award-winning books, to creating publications credited with changing people’s lives, Haylee is a champion of sharing impactful stories and diverse perspectives.
Her latest venture, HOWL, is a magazine exploring the intersection of creativity and motherhood. A culmination of a career spent observing the artist-mothers she’s long worked alongside, and then stepping into this juxtaposition herself. HOWL is Haylee’s vehicle for posing thought-provoking questions about the inherent value of mothering and creating in a patriarchal and capitalist society.
After two beautiful print editions of HOWL magazine, the publication has been reconceptualized for Issue 03 (which has just been released) and evolved into a digital project spanning four chapters, which will be released quarterly over the course of a year.
What captivates me most about Haylee is her unwavering dedication to her vision, to reshape cultural narratives surrounding motherhood, and making this wisdom accessible to a vast community.
In this week’s episode, we'll illuminate the intricacies woven into the relationship between creativity and motherhood and ponder the question: How can women honor their creative impulse while embracing the mother they aspire to be?
Embarking on the journey of Haylee's creative evolution, we'll discover the inspiration behind bringing HOWL to life and unravel the experiences shaping her quest to address this essential question.
